How Bats Help People
Bats eat lots of
bugs
and help keep the insect population down. One small brown bat can eat up to 1,000 mosquitoes in one hour!
Bats eat the bugs that
feed on the farmer's crops. The farmer does not have to use so much
bug spray
and we have better fruits and
vegetables.
Bats eat fruit with the seeds and all. When they poop, they
drop seeds
and
spread pollen
from tree to tree. This helps more fruit and trees to grow.
Doctors are studying bats to see if their saliva (spit) is useful to make new
medicine
.
